[ He's not wrong. Ruby is absolutely still awake - she probably would be even if it wasn't her birthday tomorrow, but that definitely isn't helping her calm down. She can't help it - even if it's more of a birthday observed, she's still excited about the day coming. On Remnant or Empatheias, birthdays are birthdays, and this one is hers.
So she has some suspicions as she hops out of bed and starts to tiptoe downstairs, heeding Jaune's call. ]

[ He won't say much more! By the time Ruby makes her appearance in the kitchen to find the lone cupcake, Jaune comes up from behind and crowns her with a DIY project of his.
He then throws up shredded pieces of paper, cut up into tiny pieces of confetti, which he makes glow different colours with the use of Dunamis. Despite the janky operation of this whole thing, one might get the sense that Jaune has done this thing before... several times per year. ]
[ Jaune made her a tiny firefighter suit?! He's so thoughtful!!!
But no, Ruby's too delighted at the sight of the cupcake to really pay much attention to what Jaune is doing, so when he crowns her and throws the confetti, she squeaks with surprised laughter and turns around to throw her arms around him in a Ruby-sized bear hug. ]
Jaune! You remembered!!! [ She's only mentioned it...a hundred times. But still! It's so thoughtful, and as soon as she's sufficiently hugged him, she turns back to the table and picks up the cupcake. ]
[ Once you get used to Nora's special brand of hugs, a little Ruby-sized bear hug isn't anything he can't handle. It's also really nice, as Jaune has never been one to turn down affection! ]
That's just what we called it back home... I guess you're not really supposed to celebrate "pre-birthdays", so I kept it from our parents.

So when Jaune returns to the kitchen carrying that body pillow, Ruby screeches with delight - and then screeches even louder when she sees what's on it.

Omigosh! [ She rushes over, taking the pillow in her hands and hugging it tightly to her. ] Have you ever seen a more perfect pillow in your whole entire life?!
[ She's now swiveling at the ankles with her pillow still clutched to her chest. It's so perfect. She'll never sleep with another pillow ever again... ]
