[ By the time he returns with her gift, Ruby is positively bouncing on her heels, her fists bunched excitedly over her heart. To be honest, she'd love it even if it was pajamas. She'd love it even if it was socks! For as shameless as she is about reminding her friends about her birthday, she's nothing if not grateful for the attention and gifts that may result from her reminders.
So when Jaune returns to the kitchen carrying that body pillow, Ruby screeches with delight - and then screeches even louder when she sees what's on it.
IT'S A PILLOW THAT IS ALSO A GUN. ]
Omigosh! [ She rushes over, taking the pillow in her hands and hugging it tightly to her. ] Have you ever seen a more perfect pillow in your whole entire life?!
[ She's now swiveling at the ankles with her pillow still clutched to her chest. It's so perfect. She'll never sleep with another pillow ever again... ]
It's wonderful. Thank you, Jaune!
[ And then she unlatches one arm from around the pillow so she can pull him into ANOTHER HUG. ]
[ Secret Pre-Birthday Surprise was a success! And this time, she'll get a hug a back! Someone's gotta be on Yang duty anyway. ]

Instinctively, she jumps back. She will take no chances in this!!! Not with her new love of her life in her arms!! ]
[ Jaune will follow her around the house in a state of fake nausea until Ruby decides to retreat back upstairs. Is he trying to get her to go back to sleep because it's late? This is definitely going beyond Yang-duty now! ]
